I DIDN'T START WITH A PLAN.

I started with fear. And it turned out to be my greatest teacher.

Before KimEcopak, I was a corporate lawyer in Vietnam. From the outside, my life looked successful — the title, the income, the right restaurants. But most nights, I couldn't sleep.

Then I moved to Canada. My law degree wasn't recognized. My network disappeared. My identity was gone. I cried almost every night — not because I was weak, but because I didn't know who I was anymore without the title.

I opened a restaurant. Worked 14-hour days. Lost nearly $200,000. But that loss gave me something no book could teach: compassion — for the founders I would eventually serve, and for the scared younger version of myself I was finally meeting face to face.
